Mahlia Amatina
About the Artist
Mahlia Amatina is an international artist based in Reading. After receiving her BA in Psychology and Business from Aston University and a career in market research, her art practice began just before she was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in 2015.
She is focused on themes around neurodiversity and uses multi-sensory experiences to give insight into life on the autistic spectrum. Her work includes interactive and installation art, as well as abstract paintings. While she brings awareness to neurodiversity, she also creates communities through art and advocacy around the world. She has volunteered with children’s art organisations, been awarded the Arts Council funding twice, including the “Developing your Creative Practise” fund, and has been featured as one of the Top 50 Influential Neurodivergent Women of 2019.

The Artworks (Ashurst Art Collection 2019)
The Autismo 25 and the NYC series are a body of mixed media works on paper. The work is a continuation of the "On a Spectrum – an exploration of Asperger’s Syndrome" collection and highlights the artist's continued reflections and journaling of her Asperger’s diagnosis and perceptions around this.
