About the Collection

The Ashurst Art Collection is an annually rotating collection of artworks by upcoming emerging artists, that promotes the artists and creates a provenance and a platform that grows to support them throughout their careers. It's identity portrays Ashurst's identity, via its curation and its support of emerging artists.

While some of the artists are sourced from the entrants to the Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize and Oaktree & Tiger, we are looking to additionally collaborate with curators and galleries in order to promote their support of emerging artists too.

If you would like to propose artworks to us, please visit the Submissions page.

The Collection's Identity, Values and Ambitions

The selection process aims to discover new artists and build a cross-section of emerging artistic practice, and is assessed by the Curator and the Selection Committee for each collection annually. We want to represent artists that are:
  • Emerging - Early career artists that we assess will benefit from being in the Collection.
  • International & Diverse - Artist's that represent a wide range of countries, abilities, genders, cultures, artistic mediums, and more.

The Collection's themes encompass these categories:
  • Contemporary - documenting current themes or is forward looking, and also incorporating new ideas, techniques or mediums
  • Humanity - portraying people, humanity, spirit, ambitions and social issues
  • Collaborative & Interdisciplinary - artworks created through collaborative process or utilising a range of disciplines

The Collection's Aims

The overriding aim is to support emerging artists in their career by promoting them, displaying their artworks and further supporting them by paying them while the artwork is on display.

There will be a social media campaign and web resource, as well as projects to engage with various audiences that include art professionals and collectors.

See the current collection in the Galleries page.
