Edward Reardon

About the Artist

Edward Reardon is a painter based in Hackney, London. He graduated with a BA Hons in Fine Art at the University of Plymouth, in 2014. From 2022 to 2023 he enrolled at TURPS Painting School in London, a selective program known for its rigorous focus on painting. There he engaged in critical dialogues with mentors and peers, expanding the scope of his visual language, culminating in an exhibition in Thames Side Studios Gallery. In 2024, he exhibited his work at Free Art School E20, an initiative developed in collaboration with Hypha Studios to rethink the relationship between art, education, and community spaces. Reardon’s work also garnered attention in Neighbourhood Magazine and Casual, two independent publications that spotlight emerging talent and innovation within the creative industries. He also held a residency at Atelier Vé in Marseille, where he developed a body of work that responded to the dynamic energy of Marseille, incorporating bolder contrasts into his paintings.

Reardon’s latest paintings reveal a shift towards a more abstract and experimental approach. The works delve into the psychological interior, manifesting the artist's subconscious through a visual language that is both evocative and enigmatic. His work is a testament to the power of art to externalize internal states, transforming the unseen into tangible form. Reardon's use of vibrant hues and expressive brushwork serves as a vehicle for exploring the depths of the unconscious. The vibrant hues and dynamic compositions create a sense of energy and movement. His paintings often feature abstract forms and symbols, which allude to hidden meanings and personal experiences. These paintings showcase Reardon's continued artistic evolution and his ability to push the boundaries of his practice.
