About the Artist
Chloe S Moncrieff is an artist living and working in rural Hampshire. After studying English at university, she continued her artistic journey with courses at Winchester School of Art and the Royal Drawing School. Participating in numerous exhibitions across the UK and beyond, her 2024 highlights include her selection for The Lido Stores open call in Margate, Irving Contemporary's Room of One's Own in Oxford, and the Art on a Postcard auction in London. She is currently shortlisted for the prestigious Clyde & Co and Macfarlane's Art Prizes. She is currently collaborating on the Beep Biennale Prize at the Wales and Atherton Green Gallery in Hampshire.
Moncrieff's paintings are rhythmic visual interpretations of the delicate relationship between humanity and the natural world. Her vibrant colours and fluid brushwork bring to life the Earth's interconnectedness, often imbued with allegorical significance. Omnipresent forces, such as wind, moons, mountains, and trees, are recurring motifs in her work. Drawing inspiration from Celtic mythology and literature, she weaves fantastical narratives into her paintings, while also celebrating the beauty of the rural Hampshire landscape that surrounds her. Her artwork features elements like doves, mushrooms, and lush foliage, all rooted in the real world she experiences.
